It’s easy to overlook the importance our brows play in our look. But all it takes is to look at a picture of Cara Delevingne or Cindy Crawford with their eyebrows removed and you’ll see how much of a difference our fluffy facial friends can make. From skinny 90’s brows, to the thick and bushy styles of the last few years, brow trends come and go and we’ve all played victim to testing out a look that we may look back on now with regret. But brow treatments have come a long way from overplucking, and there’s far more flexibility now when it comes to trying out different styles whilst protecting your natural look than ever before.
So how do you decide what treatment to go for? With evermore options on the market, we’ve compiled a little guide to what’s out there, and what we recommend for a long-lasting, natural look.
Brow Wax – no tint
We love a brow wax. A classic for a reason, it keeps those pesky little strays at bay, working with your natural shape for a clean, well-maintained aesthetic that is easy to look after, and fits into a hectic schedule. We can’t promise it’ll be your most relaxing treatment, but we’ll keep it as quick and painless as we can.
Perfect for: almost anyone. Bigger, bushier brows, fast growth, regular, quick upkeep
Not great for: overplucked, skinny brows, minimal growth
Lasts: 1 – 2 weeks before you need a repeat, with average hair growth
Brow Wax plus Tint
A salon favorite for a reason, the classic brow wax gets a cheeky upgrade with a brow tint, which takes the natural brow colour and adds a tint to give it more depth, and a thicker, fluffier look. Great for filling in any natural gaps in the brow, brow tints can improve the look of volume and length by recoloring any brows that might be lighter than others or covering greys. And for those who are allergic to normal hair dye, henna can be used in its place as an alternative. Used alongside a brow wax you can create a beautiful, semi-permanent look, and tidy, well-maintained shape.
Perfect for: almost everyone! Brows that have some gaps, or could benefit from grey or blonde coverage, and a thicker, darker look.
Not great for: already heavy, full brows, where the tint won’t make much difference.
Lasts: 1 – 2 weeks before you need a repeat, with the right aftercare and average hair growth.
Brow lamination
No, we don’t mean the kind of lamination you might find on A4 posters or coffee shop menus. Brow lamination has opened up a whole new world of brow shapes and styles, and we find that once a client has dipped a toe in the brow lamination pond, they rarely go back.
Using a similar solution as we would use for lash lifts, the brows are mapped and then ‘set’ into a specific shape. This can be used to create a semi-permanent effect that helps the brows keep the desired look for longer, delivering a longer hold so that simply brushing them through results in the laminated shape. Combined with a brow tint, this look is so effective that many of our clients find they no longer need to use brow makeup for the first few weeks and until the effects of the lamination and tint begin to wear off. Thanks to the nature of the lamination you can experiment with different brow shapes without having to commit for the long-term, but long enough that you can enjoy the look if you’re heading off for a few weeks in the sun ☀️
Perfect for: anyone who wants a longer-lasting look
Not great for: damaged or over plucked brows
Lasts: can last 6 – 8 weeks with the proper aftercare
